Government of Canada Supports Innovation.
Fort St. John – Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology), today announced an investment in MCI Solutions Ltd. from the Digital Technology Adoption Pilot Program (DTAPP).
This $47,000 contribution will assist the Fort St. John-based MCI Solutions Ltd. in researching, integrating, and deploying a fully-functional digital computer numerical control machining facility to manage its increased production requirements. The project is estimated to be completed by the end of 2013 and includes the latest digital technologies in the machining industry.
“Our Government is investing in innovation and technology to create jobs, strengthen the economy and improve Canada’s long-term economic competitiveness,” said Mr. Zimmer. “By supporting small businesses like MCI Solutions in adopting new digital technologies, we are helping to increase Canada’s overall productivity and create economic growth and opportunities.”
“MCI Solutions Ltd. has historically had a strong culture for innovation and has applied those innovation practices toward all of its products,” said Jim Morrison, Production Manager for MCI Solutions Ltd. “Thanks to the support from DTAPP, we will be able to continue to remain competitive and it will give us the opportunity to increase our market share.”
As part of the Government of Canada’s commitment to grow Canada’s digital economy, Budget 2011 announced DTAPP, an $80-million investment over three years starting in fiscal year 2011-12. The program is designed to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies by more than 600 small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in any sector or location across Canada.
MCI Solutions Ltd. is a small but focused provider of production equipment technologies used primarily in the upstream oil and gas industry. MCI was established in 2002 and entered the pump market with pneumatic drive technologies that greatly reduce harmful fugitive emissions typically associated with the chemical injection industry. In 2007, new patented IP was developed and as a result MCI Solutions Ltd. shifted its focus to a new line of electric chemical injection pump systems. These technologies eliminate the need for venting during the injection process and have proven to be a very successful product line, fueling considerable growth since inception.
