Simplicity and Class I, Zone 1 certified.

The D1 pump is controlled by the operator keypad located in the remotely mounted digital controller. Class I, zone 2 area certified, the V2 controller can be mounted at a convenient location to best suit your application. To start your chemical injection program simply scroll to your required injection rate in litres per day (LPD) and start pumping. If you need to check the power supply voltage press the volt meter button. The LED display is readable below -40º C.

SCADA control.

MCI offers a variety of remote control options. Use Modbus for the ultimate two-way communications and control. With the 4-20mA analogue input, control both ON/OFF as well as setting the injection volume. Finally use the discrete input for simple ON/OFF control and monitor the discrete output for pump state.

Automatic ON/OFF.

Use the thermistor probe to determine ambient temperature and the graphical user interface (GUI) to set the pump ON and pump OFF operating ranges. With no outside control the D1 provides basic injection automation.

Power.

The pump drive is rated 4A. However the stepper motor controller limits inrush during startup and power draw during operation. During the Cold Start cycle (6-minutes) the D1 will draw 750mA at 24V (1.5A at 12V). The maximum average operating draw is 450mA at 24V. MCI pumps are available in either 12V or 24V DC.

Extend battery life.

Storage battery life can be prolonged by preventing deep discharge. The D1 has an automatic low voltage disconnect with user definable set-points. Use the GUI software to completely configure the controller to protect your batteries.

Patented leak containment.

The D1 pump includes the FMT fluid end. The FMT integrates our patented secondary containment seal technology. It is designed to capture high pressure seal bypass chemical and reroute it back to the suction side of the fluid end. The FMT eliminates conventional V-packing and the associated gland nut. This virtually eliminates leaking chemical to the environment associated with packing equipped fluid ends and reduces operator workload to scheduled seal replacement only.

The FMT fluid end does not require any adjustment over the seal life. No more gland nut tightening. FMT fluid ends are cast in carbon steel as standard or 316 stainless steel as an option. There is a 1/8″ NPT port into the displacement chamber for a pressure sensor. All plungers are made from tungsten carbide for long life and superior chemical compatibility.

Injection flexibility.

Injection volume varies across applications. MCI pumps are digitally controlled for precise chemical injection. Our V2 controller offers performance ranges up to 93.5 LPD.

Customized convenience.

Many installations require a pressure relief valve (PSV). We can have one set, tagged and tubed onto the pump. PSVs are available with various seal materials including either EPDM or Viton as standard or Kalrez as an upgrade.

Debris in the storage tank can enter the suction line and collect at the suction bushing seat. This can interfere with the suction ball causing “circulation” in the sight glass and, ultimately, damage the O-ring seal. To guard against debris reaching the fluid end MCI has optional 500 micron strainers available.

The D1 is designed to mount on a horizontal surface. The fluid end must be at least 12 inches below the storage tank bulkhead.

Should the oil and gas industry be concerned by chemical over injection?

Are you wasting money on chemical over injection? Does under injection put your pipeline and other infrastructure at risk?

Pressure change equals changing drive motor load and results in variable injection volume. Not so with MCI pumps.

Single speed injection pumps.

At a fixed pump rate chemical injection volume changes with line or well pressure variation. Many commonly used chemical injection pumps in the Oil & Gas industry employ high rpm motor drives (1,000 – 1,700 rpm). The drive cycles ON and runs at full speed for several seconds and then shuts down for a few minutes. Operations personnel accurately set the injection rate, confirm the injection volume using the sight glass and then expect the pump to reliably injection at the set volume.

Well or line pressure variation.

The problem starts with injection pressure variation. As the pressure increases the added load causes the pump drive to turn slightly slower. This small speed change results in lower injection rates. The outcome could result in infrastructure corrosion, costly repair or replacement and, ultimately, product flow interruption. Conversely the drive motor rpm is increased as injection pressure decreases. This change causes chemical over injection.

In the graph above any 200 psi pressure change results in a 2+ litre per day change in injection volume. This change occurs naturally and is only corrected when the operator resets the pump stroke rate to account for the pressure change. The cost of inhibitors and other chemicals vary. However if we assume that the cost is $5/ litre, and based on the graph the over injection would be two litres per day, each injection point will be over injecting $3,650 annually.

The MCI solution.

MCI pumps are built with a continuously cycling DC stepper motor and variable speed controller. This slow rpm drive motor is not impacted by changing pressure within its operating range. The result is a chemical injection pump with incredible injection volume accuracy. Rely on MCI pumps – the true set it and forget it drive.
